Pondicherry the French colony is a beautiful place to visit, I liked it because of Aurovilla and Aurobindo ashram, as a child my mother had a book “the divine”  , signed by Sree Auribindo which was passed from one generation to another and if she gives to me then I will be the third generation to pass into my future kids.
This place has its own charm as you walk down the streets near the marine drives (Don’t confuse with Amchi Mumbai Marine drives), this is a small version………and due to my childhood association with Bay of Bengal, any place in its sea shore has a special place in my heart.

Pondicherry good place to shop for good cotton stuff , the way the French wear it…..

You can buy lot of kaftans, nice silk hats, organic herbs, bathing salts, organic soaps and essence.
Auroville has some good boutiques to shop for Organic and cotton stuff and in City you can try some good bakery in Bussy Street or bakery named Bakers Street

For good French food I will refer Lee Club, Satsang and Rendezvous and there is nice hotel which is part Carte Blance for English breakfast and after morning walk in marine drives you can sip your coffee in the café besides Marine drives. Things to try out: Hibiscus Juice
It’s a blend of Hibuscus petals, cane sugar juice, lemon juice and water. Quite refreshing and a must in hot summers to try out in Pondi J
